About the Redneck (Todd)
As with the Hippy, I was raised in a small rural farming community (actually the southern
reaches of the same district she grew up in). I was considered somewhat of a miracle since
my mother was led to believe she could not get pregnant. Therefore I am also an only child.
Growing up without siblings was a challenge as I rarely had anyone else around to help when
whatever I was working on required more than just my two hands. Thankfully, my father had a
very intuitive engineering sense and from watching him, I quickly learned how to use
resources at hand to substitute for not having another set of hands.
The second facet of my ability to create something out of nothing is that while not dirt poor, we
were far from rich. I never wanted for anything but also didn’t have the luxury of always being
able to just go buy whatever I wanted or needed, so the majority of my projects were based
on whatever I could scrounge up from things we had.
While I like to consider myself fairly intelligent, I have no formal education in anything beyond
high school. All of my knowledge, skill, and ability come from a life of watching and working
with my father and various jobs I’ve held over the years. I’ve always said I can learn anything
I desire to, except medicine or law…the words are too damned big…lol.
I love to create things and share my knowledge with others. I have met entirely too many
people who hoard their knowledge like a stock commodity. I vowed early on in my life to
never be like that. I will share anything and everything I know about the world with anyone
who wishes to know any of it.
I am also proud to say that I have served a total of 18 years in our esteemed military, 12
being with the Army and 6 with the Air Force. A great deal of who I am comes from that
service and I urge anyone to investigate service as an option, whether just for a short time or
as a career.
With all that being said, let’s see if maybe I can toss a few things up on here that anyone
might see as useful in their own life. Redneck style.
